WTF is a GigaUnit? To understand, you will need to brush up on meme culture, specifically GigaChads (Read) and Absolute Units (Read):

The Decentralized Autonomous GigaUnits (DAGs) is the first creative IP to be included in the Ex Populus trading card game. The game will include original IP like the DAGs made in-house by Ex Populus as well as existing IPs from other games, entertainment franchises, celebrities, and athletes. The Ex Populus trading card game is loosely comparable to Steam trading cards. You will be able to collect these cards and have them battle each other based on your favorite games and project in the Ex Populus ecosystem.

This is Ex Populus’ first creative IP and despite its humor, we see huge potential for these DAGs. If you check out the website’s team section, you’ll see that we have assembled quite an impressive team from Hollywood to create amazing content using the GigaUnits. Most of the media initially made by Ex Populus will be high quality, short content for the web. But these DAGs are so meme worthy, we believe with your help we can meme these bad boys into a full series.

Ex Populus has espoused itself during its short history as a company that is dedicated to delivering only the highest quality entertainment in the industry. Quality, can come in many forms. You see, at XP, we are rabid fans of series like Rick and Morty, Midnight Gospel, Futurama, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Southpark, Archer and plenty of others. These shows have embedded themselves into global pop culture and mainstream media, because the type of humor encountered is often edgy and confrontational, not to mention hilarious.

Perhaps even more notably, we grew up with beloved animated series such as He-Man, ThunderCats, Thundarr, Bravestar and like many in our generation, managed to watch old Mad Max movies, Beastmaster and of course Conan when our parents weren’t paying attention. For whatever reason, in the 1980s there was a plethora of content created featuring overly muscled men in leathery straps, knee high boots and skimpy undies waving around their “magical swords”, plenty-of-which was marketed to children. Looking back on this as an adult, we can’t help but raise our eyebrows knowing that what was a cliche, perhaps even toxic portrayal of masculinity, was also accidentally(?) erotic. Somehow George Miller, Frank Frazetta and Mattel all met in the middle on this unique, strange trend.

Decentralized Autonomous GigaUnits is at the intersection of degen culture, meme culture, prime-time adult cartoons and of course the possibly-BDSM-inspired children's cartoons and movies many of us watched growing up in the 1980s. If you still don’t get it, just watch this and this.

So, why do you want one of these absurd GigaUnits?

I mean, just look at these GigaUnits. The line work, the style, the coloring and variety. The artwork itself is among the highest quality you will find in contemporary 2D renderings of comedic adult cartoons with prime-time ambitions (that’s right, move over Rick and Morty!).

Format & Structure

Firstly, we’ve decided to release DAG’s on Solana. While we are extremely bullish on Ethereum, gas prices have become too exuberant and are unhealthy for growth. We believe in a multi-chain world and a permission-less metaverse, but it will be difficult to achieve those goals without being blockchain agnostic. Whether you’re an Ether bull or Solana bull you’re early to Web 3 and you care about building a better web. Ex Populus cares too, which is why we’re the first Web 3 entertainment company deploying projects on both chains. We’re seeing this as an opportunity to combine the two most passionate communities in Web 3. Here’s to learning new things from each other, as a community.

We are still working out pricing details for the DAGs, but we will be rewarding our LAMOverse holders by giving them earliest access to the sale. After the early window for LAMOverse holders, we will be opening another window for individuals that have registered at dag.expopulus.com and linked their Solana wallet on or before December 6th. We will also be distributing special NFTs that if you hold them, will be able to mint early. Lastly, the final window will be open to the public. DAG Club will open its doors when its ready, but we expect that to be in early December.
